let’s get started

First, we need some kitchen helpers! Teamwork time: you stir, mom tastes, and dad lends a hand.

  1. Chopping fun.
Grab an onion and a clove of garlic. Ask mom or dad to help peel and chop them.

  2. Melt the butter in a big pot and add the onion and garlic. Stir well and let it cook for 3 minutes. Mmm… it’s starting to smell delicious!

  3. Add the mustard and stir everything together. Let it cook for a little while until it sticks slightly to the bottom of the pan.

  4. Making the soup.
Pour in the water and cooking cream, then add the stock cubes. Time to stir! Bring the soup to a boil and let it bubble gently for a few minutes. Do you see the little bubbles? That means it’s going well. Take half a leek and ask dad to cut it in half lengthwise. Wash it thoroughly. Then let him slice the white and light green part into thin rings. Add the leek to the soup and let it cook gently for 4 more minutes.

  5. The magic trick.
In a small bowl, mix a little water with cornstarch and stir it into the soup. Watch as the soup thickens… Magic! Let momtaste it; but be careful—it's hot! Add a pinch of salt and pepper if needed.

The finishing touch

Cut the dry sausage into small slices and put a few in each soup bowl. Ask for help pouring the warm soup into the bowls. And then… Enjoy your magical mustard soup!
